D. C. Reunion Pictures - 4

June 2005 - Art and Stu

On Friday, Shelley and I spent the afternoon in the museum of fine art. First thing I had to do upon arriving was visit the "little gladiator's room."

These are freaking big urinals. Perhaps this bathroom is in the Texas wing of the museum?

I must have been more impressed with the building than the art inside of it. I took only one picture of the art, and that was because Shelley was standing next to it.

Later that day, Shelley and I hooked up with Barbara and Ken. We visited the Ford Theater, where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

The 4 of us then stumbled on more art ... of a sort. There is a small park with more than a dozen modern art displays. Some of them were a bit strange. Ken's fertile mind got us started naming a number of the sculptures. Unfortunately I didn't shoot as many photos as I should have.

Big eraser thingy.

Do not leave your bags unattended.

Ken found a lost Imperial Storm Trooper. He named this galactic menace Stu (Storm Trooper Unit). Even though Stu suffered from a slight Napoleon complex, being only 3 inches tall, he was unusually efficient at stopping people in their tracks. We put Stu on the sidewalk and observed peoples' reactions from the bushes. (Shelley and I had to keep Ken and Barb separated... they still act like teenagers). It was quite humorous to watch people stop and take a long look at Stu. Eventually a little girl adopted him and he is living out a comfortable retirement somewhere in the heartland.
